Southern Africa University Professor Training Programme on the WTO and Sustainable Development, 11-14 December 2006

The University Professor Training Programme on the WTO and Sustainable Development for Southern Africa was held in Cape Town, South Africa from 11-14 December 2006. The workshop was held in collaboration with the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Trade Law Centre for Southern Africa (TRALAC).

This 4-day training workshop provided training on the WTO and sustainable development for university professors. It aimed to promote capacity building for countries in Southern Africa and establish long-term, fundamental training to increase understanding and knowledge of WTO rules and their implications for sustainable development.

A cocktail function hosted by UNU-IAS and the WTO to welcome all participants was held on the evening of 11 December 2006 at the Two Oceans Aquarium in the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.

Participants included scholars from the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
