South Africa: Intra-Africa trade and tariff profile 2020

In 2020, 23% of South Africa’s world exports and 11% of world imports were intra-Africa. Between 2019 and 2020, South Africa’s exports to Africa declined by 17%, and imports from Africa declined by 27%.
South Africa’s intra-Africa exports and imports amounted to US$19.9 billion and US$7.4 billion in 2020, respectively. Apart from Nigeria, South Africa’s main African trading partners are the fellow members of SADC (and therefore SACU).
