Lesotho: 2019 intra-Africa trade and tariff profile
While only 39 per cent of Lesotho’s world exports are destined for the rest of Africa, 78 per cent of world imports are sourced from other African countries; all most all with neighbouring South Africa. 98 per cent of total intra-Africa trade is with South Africa with remaining trade being with fellow SACU and/or SADC FTA countries – Eswatini, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Mozambique. Only 0.1 per cent of intra-Africa exports and 0.02 per cent of intra-Africa imports are to and from African countries which are not members of SACU and/or the SADC FTA. Most this trade is with Kenya and Uganda and exports of domestic kitchen appliances and printing ink and duty-free imports of medicines.
