AfCFTA Stakeholder Webinar series

tralac is organising a series of webinars on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) negotiations.
Although the operational phase of the AfCFTA was officially launched in Niamey, Niger on 7 July 2019, AfCFTA-based preferential trade will only be possible once outstanding Phase I negotiations (on tariff reductions, rules of origin, conditions for trade in services in the five priority sectors) are concluded.
Trading under the AfCFTA Agreement was due to commence on 1 July 2020, but as a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic, this date was postponed. It has been indicated that the new date for operationalisation is 1 January 2021.
Against this backdrop, tralac is organising three stakeholder webinars:
-
Webinar 1: Overview of the AfCFTA, update on the negotiations and the institutions of the AfCFTA
