In 2019, Togo’s intra-Africa exports of US$740 million accounted for 72% of Togo’s world exports. Intra-Africa imports of US$393 million accounted for 20% of Togo’s world exports. Between 2018 and 2019, Togo’s intra-Africa exports increased by 3%, while imports decreased by 6%. Togo’s intra-Africa trade is mainly with fellow CEN-SAD and ECOWAS member states. 20% of Togo’s intra-Africa trade is with Benin, 17% with Ghana, 12% with Burkina Faso, 12% with Nigeria, 10% with Ivory Coast. Outside ECOWAS, Togo mainly exports to Morocco, Congo and Gabon. Togo mainly imports pacific salmon, electricity meters, fertilisers, diesel trucks, cane or beet sugar from African countries outside ECOWAS. Most of these products are levied import duties.
