Rwanda: 2019 intra-Africa trade and tariff profile
A third of Rwanda’s total trade is intra Africa-Trade of which 50 per cent is trade with other EAC member states. Trade with countries outside the COMESA FTA is mainly with DRC, South Africa and Cameroon. 69 per cent of Rwanda’s intra-Africa exports are to the DRC, while 59 per cent of imports are from Kenya and Tanzania. 25 per cent of intra-Africa exports are to African countries not members of the EAC and COMESA; 1 per cent of intra-Africa imports are sourced from these countries. 40 per cent of these exports are to the Congo (petroleum oils and coffee) and 82 per cent of these imports are sourced from South African and Cameroon; mainly gold imported at the MFN applied rate of 25 per cent.
